Why carpet flooring?

Carpet is one of the most popular and budget friendly options available in terms of flooring. Carpets are usually able to be laid in nearly any inch of the home, from bedrooms to stairs. Nylon Carpet versus Polyester Carpet

The first question to ask yourself when you’re in the market for a carpet is do you want a carpet that is more stain resistant, or do you want a carpet that is highly durable? In terms of synthetic carpet fibers, nylon and polyester are our most popular and fulfill the answer to this question. As a general rule of thumb, polyester carpet is known to be more stain resistant and nylon tends to be more durable.

When looking at nylon carpet fibers, the holdup on the carpet is due to the nylon’s resilience. For those individuals who prioritize long lasting carpet that will withstand wear and tear for years, nylon is the best way to go. Polyester will likely show foot traffic on the carpet quicker than nylon.

As for polyester carpet, this type of carpet fiber is considered “hydrophobic”, in which liquid is repelled from the fiber. Nylon is a very absorbent carpet, which makes it a poor candidate for stain fighting. If you have pets or kids, a polyester carpet for your home may be more appealing.

When thinking about price, typically nylon costs more to produce which in turn generally costs more than a comparable polyester.

With all this being said, both carpets are available in many different qualities. This could mean that a high-quality polyester may perform better than a low-quality nylon carpet. This is important to take into consideration when choosing the right carpet for your home.
